  1. until humans start communicating via telepathy, the best way to contaminate is still via word-of-mouth. it costs nothing (save a few occasional drops of saliva) to transmit, and in this day and age, it can go viral in a matter of hours. rumors have a way of diffusing like a gas. other ways to contaminate are the use of Facebook, Linkedin. they're free yet so powerful.

  2. From Doc Rio...

To contaminate positively the people I know with my brand,

    1. I need to impress them in all that I do.

I have always noticed that I am an achiever. Of all the endeavors that I did in the past, I cannot remember of one that I can directly say that I failed. I think I did well in all of them and my efforts were appreciated by the people I love and know. As I go on, I intend to do the same, keeping them impressed and amazed of my achievements, and inspiring them to do the same in the process.

    2. I make myself and my works, job and resources available to them at all times, and

Technology has already made communication very easy to do. The internet has opened doors for me to share to the world what I am doing and what I have done. My personal blog updates everyone of my opinions and viewpoints on medical as well national issues. I get responses and medical related queries from friends and family as well anonymous readers in the blog and in my social network accounts like Facebook and Twitter. My literary side is showcased in poetry.com. As of now, I can easily be reached by anyone through the net.

    3. I will not stop learning and finding ways to make my personal brand better and better.

I am always proud to say that I spent 28 of my 38 years in life studying. My appetite for learning is so big that amazes people I know. I think it's God's gift and I am a grateful recipient. More than the titles that follow my name (DMD, MD, DPBO-HNS, FPSO-HNS, MBAH student), the knowledge that I gain from every person that I encounter, every person that I work with, and all the teachers/professors that I met and will meet, is continuously molding me to be the best that I can be.

  3. Some ways to contaminate the market:

    1. Make yourself known to your peers and the public. Join your respective medical and civic societies and groups to spread the word about your presence.
    2. Be active in the community. Participate in community service projects to show your "product" and that you care.
    3. Utilize various forms of communication to "contaminate" the market such as the Internet, social networking sites.

However we do have to remember as Physicians there are certain ethical limits we must abide by when marketing ourselves.

  4. If I were to contaminate my market:

1)To be actively present for my clients by having signages of my name and specialization, have leaflets for my services that can be taken from my clinic, have my affiliations and my credentials posted in my clinic, to have a database of my patients that can be used for infomation campaign regarding my practice and to have a website that my patients can access to know more about me personally as well as professionally.

    2) Professional Accreditation, it is also important that other doctors know my practice so that they can refer to me their patients, especially if i am an specialist. Thus it is important to join and be active in my associations. It is also important for the doctors practicing in the hospitals I am practicing to know my specialization, thus it is important that a doctor be known by other doctors and to be perceived as an excellent one.

    3) Personal Marketing - as a doctor,it is important that he has to continually improved his craft, which in turn will also allow him to extend his market and improved his marketability.

  5. My proposed ways to contaminate my market:
    1. Make myself known to others through the positive words of happy, satisfied patients who are vocal enough to actively share positive feedback with their friends and family. Especially good if they are members of religious, sociocivic groups etc that meet regularly and encourage discussions among members
    2. Utilize the power of technology via internet, esp medical-related engines such as Rx Pinoy sites, which patients specifically use to look for doctors or medical services
    3. Utilize mass media such as radio/ TV through guestings in health-related programs; more credible if the guesting is endorsed by ophthalmologic societies such as the Phil Academy of Ophthalmology

  6. Ways to positively contaminate my primary target market
    1. The best way to contaminate any market is by being truthful and honest in every aspect. Gaining trust and confidence from your clients or patients is the first thing that anyone should try to achieve. A partnership that is founded on trust and confidence is a lasting one.
    2. Next important aspect is to be consistent and fair. As professionals, this is an important trait because integrity comes with it. Nobody would want to deal with or trust his life in a doctor who is not a man of his word or who is easily influenced by other factors.
    3. Last but the best way to contaminate is by showing proper compassion and lifting everything to God

  7. Ways to contaminate the market:

    1.
Always make good in your workplace. Whatever it is you do make sure that you put every effort to do your best which becomes a trademark for you and eventually this becomes a hallmark for every endeavor that you do. People will always notice this and will speak highly of you and whatever it is you do.

    2.
After making a mark in your area of work , try to network with others in the community. be visible in most gatherings where you have the opportunity to share what you know and make people be aware of your abilities. If you are good people will always take note of what you have said and will create a good impression of you.

    3.
AFter being visible and making a mark in your workplace and locality, make sure that you are consistent with what you have been and saying and what you have been doing. People who have been impressed by you will continue to follow you and believe in you if they know that you have been very consistent.

    Contaminating my Market
    1. Tradional way of giving quality healthcare and service is still No. 1! Letting satisfied patients spread the news and preventing dissastified ones (damage control) will ensure contamination.
    2. Active participation in community work, membership in reputable societies and organizations.
    3. Personal marketing - advertise clinics and services (ff. ethical standards), use the modern forms of media and apply what I learned in MARKMA.

    ReplyDelete
  9. 1. Personal Selling - it would be easy for patients to choose their attending M.D. based on credentials and expertise. But the Physician should be attending the patient with a touch of compassion and in a way make it more personalized. Doctors should learn to communicate and build realtionship with patients in a professional way. To be known to colleagues and community, one can join and be active on social organizations and get affiliated with societies

    2. with the Filipino culture of chatting on their free time, i still believe that word of mouth is an effective medium to contaminate the market. Thus it is important that we give our best when dealing with our market. when people endorse us because of their satisfaction definitely, it will spread but probably on a smaller range.

    3. to further enhance the contamination, with the use of electronic marketing may be of great help. but then again we should be guided accordingly.

  10. 3 things to contaminate my primary target market.

    1. Since i am in the service business, good outcome always equate to happy patients. word of mouth will be the very important like how flu is transmitted. keep abreast with the advances in my specialty at all times to make sure i can offer the lastest treatment of particular diseases to patients. People will recognize doctors who are updated with treatment.
    2. use media materials such as website, billboards, flyer and brochures.
    3. get involve with the community both in the medical society and the lay's activities. its good marketing to a name in a brochure/ flyer and billboard with a face and personality.

  11. Just to chime in a bit..

    Ways to contaminate the market:
1.) for me one of the best ways to positively influence the market is to lead by example. Our standards, if communicated accordingly and consistently by practicing them as well, should be good way to influence others.
2.) Consistency - we need to be consistent in implementing policies or in delivering our services regardless of customers' status, paycheck size, beliefs etc... if we advocate a an equal opportunity for excellent service that we could provide, it will surely spread a word of good to everyone. A bad customer service experienced by one 1 person can be spread to about 12 people at an average, while a good one is being shared to 1-2 people only. Meaning, that it is more difficult to spread good news than a gossip. So we really need to be careful as to how we deliver our tasks..
    3. POSITIVITY - a smile, a good deed everyday, a prayer, paying someone a true compliment every time and again will surely leave a mark that the recipient will always remember.and if a lot more people will be accustomed to this, it will be such a wonderful world to be in. :-)

  12. 3 ways to contaminate the primary target market

    1. For doctors, still the best way is through the word of mouth of satisfied patients under our care, hospital personnel who are at privy on how good our work and working relationship with them and the patients, and colleagues who believes that he or she is the best at his medical specialization.
    2. Being members of specialty society and civic action groups is another way of contaminating the market. Being exposed to people who may want to consult you all the time is a good marketing strategy. By doing medical outreach or mission to the community or just conducting layman's forum on health within the target population is a good way of advertising one's specialization. And coupled this with good interpersonal relationship is a sure fire way to market oneself.
    3. Using the quad-media is also a good marketing strategy. By guesting in radio or TV talk show programs regarding health care is a direct way of marketing without being unethical to the practice of the profession. Also the internet is one powerful way to advertise oneself but just be careful on not crossing the boundaries of unethical practice advertising. And also the use of the old and tested calling cards and prescription pads with letter heads to promote ones practice, clinic hours and hospital affiliation is still one of the best marketing strategy to infiltrate the target market.

  13. Ways to Contaminate the Market

    1. Simply be good at what you do! Patients surely will notice you and be advocates if they are satisfied with the results of your treatment or surgery. How do you gain the skills and knowledge? Continuing Medical Education!

    2. Be compassionate to your patients. Sometimes, no matter how good you are, optimum results are not achieved and complications happen. If you treat your patients right and with compassion, you still earn respect and trust. With respect and trust, patients will come back to you no matter what and continue to refer their friends and loved ones to you.

    3. This last one, I read in a book! In order for you to be referrable, you should be able to refer to other as well. The way I understand this is you widen your network if you involve others in your business or practice. In our profession as doctors, we are able to do this by referring for example my patient for surgery to an internist for clearance. The interninst in turn in the future may refer his/ her patient in need of cataract extraction.

  14. Contaminating My Market;
    1. The best way to contimate my market would be the old fashoin way. By doing your own personal visit or one on one chat with your patient, listening attentively to your pt and making an eye contact. The empathy you show to your patient would be a great help for the practice.
2 Showing your empathy to the patient this would help through word of mouth, they could help you market it thru the mass media, via internet and even social network.
    3. By utilizing all the societies, affiliation and membership that you could go into as well with your own community.

  15. Positive Contamination can be done in 3 ways:

    1st - PURPOSE

The purpose for opening the hospital is the core of its being. Without it, their will be no direction. Its purpose is service followed by the business. "Dedicated to Life" is also used as a guiding principle for all UPH-DJGTMC staff. This reminds the staff and the patients that life is important and will be taken cared of.

Service was the legacy left by the founder Dr. Jose G. Tamayo. This is also the culture of the University of Perpetual Help System molded by his legacy.

    2nd - FIRST IMPRESSIONS LAST

The first impression that the market experiences from UPH-DJGTH will last for a lifetime. Making a good first impression will help in bringing more clients to try the services in the hospital. Service will be the first and foremost impression that will be experienced by the primary target market.

    3rd - ACCESSIBILITY

Clients whether doctors or patients appreciate the accessibility of the hospital services, the hospital administration, and the staff. They will feel more confident in the utilizing the services.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Ways to possibly contaminate my primary target market
1.Be personal in dealing with your clients. Each client should be treated as different individuals with different personalities and needs. Satisfying your clients will have a multiplying effect.
2.Improving ones skills through continuing medical education and other related studies will not only be fulfilling personally but also builds client trust and confidence. This also improves your competitiveness with other competitors.Joining and affiliating with other health societies and health providers will certainly enhance ones skills.
3.Make sure that everything and anything is under the Creator's mercy and compassion.Work and lift everything to Him.

  17. How will I contaminate my target market?
Doctors have their unique way of “advertising and marketing.” Traditionally limited by professional ethics, the new generation health practitioners & their allied counterparts have their own profitable interpretation of business marketing & strategy:

    1. Establishing ethically good relationships & building rapport with their clients (we call them patients before) – by word of mouth - good professional services results to more client referrals. Going the extra mile in patient care (or client satisfaction) still works best.

    2. Identifying the things that make you advantageously distinct from your competitors offers extra market for the ‘redesigned’ health practitioner. We call this Positioning & Branding – identify your stuff & the clients align their needs to your craft.

    3. Being a socially influential figure in the community could spell hidden pressure to all would-be clients. Medical public relations through health information & awareness campaigns; medical specialty lectures; case photos published in personal websites (Facebook, Twitter, Blogs) strengthen your image & stimulate awareness and create demand for your services. Free Radio or TV talk show appearances as well as newspaper or newsletter issues likewise extend this self promotion.

  18. 1. one of the best way to get more patients is through referral especially from the receivers of our health service. during personal dealing with my patients, i would ask them to please spread the word of their appreciation of quality service by telling their families and friends.
    2. make myself and my credentials in the web. technology is fast paced that many are now surfing the internet. provide them means how to reach and get your services as well as educate the readers important health issues.
    3. formulate a corporate social responsibility particularly to the target markets. these will create a greater impact among the intended and possible patients. programs that benefit only their health but other concerns create more public awareness about your presence.

  19. It has been said that Starbucks doesn't sell coffee, they sell a coffee "experience". I am currently working on creating this consultation and medical service "experience". I don't want to just diagnose and prescribe or treat or manage. I would like my patients to be involved in their own care. Medicine now provides several management options and patients now play an integral part of the decision making. This medical involvement is what I would like to infect to my primary target market. I hope to create this experience by:

    1. Educating my patients. I painstakingly teach my patients about their disease and provide them with several options for management. Patients appreciate this because after waiting hours to see the doctor they feel shortchanged to spend only five minutes with the doctor. I encourage them to seek the same information on-line and make my clinic available for questions.

    2. For patients with a particular medical diagnosis, I encourage them to join organized interest groups (if there is one) that they may meet, and discuss with others of the same problem their experiences with the disease and the current management.

    3. Finally, for those with a hopefully positive experience, I encourage them to teach others about the perils of poor eye health specific to their problem. Not to promote the clinic, per se, but as a public health awareness campaign.

  20. Three ways to positively "contaminate":
    1. In any product or services, for me the most important characteristic is QUALITY. If I know and tested or experienced such provide or service is of high quality, this is the best aspect to "contaminate" such product or service. It can then be endorse in any way, even sometimes for free.
    2. The second important characteristic of a product or service is its PRICE. This is second only to quality but nevertheless a very powerful "contaminating" ingredient.
    3. Last, but not the least, a positive social or environmental impact of such product or service if used or availed of. As AGSB is frequently emphasizing to us: SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY is just half of being in a business, the other is of course PROFIT. If the use of a product or service benefit the "many" and uplift them somehow, this is again a very powerful "contaminating" ingredient that can be used in marketing.

  21. Positively contaminating your market as a physician... hmm...

    1. ENDOGENOUSLY: from within yourself, your workplace, just work with your heart in conjunction with your mind then you will positively contaminate your patients with only praises and respect for you

    2. EXOGENOUSLY: by making yourself known, thru print or active media and more so by joining medical societies and actively involving yourself in the community markets yourself both with people as potential clients, and colleagues as potential partners

    3. VIA BLOODSTREAM: without the co-employees, personnel or colleagues respect and admiration, working within the hospital as workplace, the bloodstream route of contamination, then endogenous and exogenous routes might be difficult. So be a good workmate..

Let's make this contamination outbreak Global!

  22. 3 ways to positively contaminate our target market:
    1. Good service to clients, and even more better service to unsatisfied (complaining) clients. Each patient that we see everyday has different experiences, different background, different ailments. Like the virus, not all patients will experience the disease with the same severity and complications. We must learn to individualize care so as to fit each client needs and expectations. We must learn to communicate to our patients and even more to the unhappy patients. Like a very virulent virus which spreads rapidly, it may take just 1 grumpy patient to ruin your whole entourage.
    2. Market your brand. Make it known to your primary target market what your skills are, how you can help them and what benefits they can reap if they subscribe to you. You can do this with all the marketing tools we have learned be it on-line or through other traditional ways. But this should always be bounded by ethics.
    3. As how viruses are, contamination is self- limiting. There is a need to reaffirm your positioning. We must constantly remind our clients of our services and how good we are in providing these services. It is our responsibility as a doctor to continuously educate ourselves in order to provide the best care possible for our patients.

    ReplyDelete
  23. 1. By marketing my services at almost zero cost that will lead to low cost quality service. I can do this by direct personal marketing
    2. By constantly evolving and reacting to recent trends in the surgical field. Doing so will increase my marketability.
    3. By using the internet technology to market my services because almost all the people are using them already like signing in to facebook and twitter accounts.

  24. Paul Fajardo's way to positively contaminate my primary target market:

    1. Get yourself known. In my personal experience, I have been joining various local and international veterinary conventions as a delegate when I was starting my career. Now I am joining as a speaker during break out sessions. If I continue and let myself be known to my market and gain some experience, I may be able to get a spot in the plenary sessions.

    2. Be a member of medical associations, societies and relevant organizations. No matter how busy we are in our primary job, it is important to be visible and to be recognized in our own organization as an accredited professional.

    3. Take advantage of the Internet. This is where you will market yourself globally. Finally, apply what has been taught by our MARKETING MANAGEMENT COACH. Thanks COACH!

  25. to contaminate my market I need to:

    1. Create my personal brand (package) that my market needs. I have to be credible and dependable to the people around me. In order to be of service, I have to hone my skills and enrich my expertise through exposures, experiences and higher learning. Always be "current" - technology and communications, theory and innovations - always be open to changes and advancement in order not to be left behind.

    2. Exude a Positive attitude towards life. I have always believed that by having the right attitude and positive outlook, goals can easily be attained. By spreading the virus of positivity, you market yourself as a source of inspiration and living force to continue and strive to become better.

    3. Always be thankful to God and others. One can never reach success without the help of others and guidance from God. The greater glory lies on the people around you who have helped you along the way.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Contaminating the market may mean the following for me:

    1) Establishing good rapport with new patients, maintaining the highest ethical and competitive standards to give the best ophthalmic subspecialty care for them. Maintain such relationships with previous clients who will one day, send their friends and relatives to you for eye care. Uphold and maintain modern and safe standards of health care by continual updates

    2) Always, inform them. Never let them leave without the clinic with any questions unanswered. Most doctors would sweet talk patients, but most patients nowadays would want the truth

    3) Use all available means at our disposal to inform patients (Internet, support groups) to our advantage. This will not only enhance our rapport, but also give the impression that we are being truthful to them

My simple ways to contaminate the market
    1. Be approachable, accessible and building a good doctor-patient relationship is still the best and time-tested approach, because these patients will be your loyalists in the end.
    2. Always innovate and update with the current trends in healthcare industry because our clientele will always look and ask us of new and other options.
    3. Refer to colleagues when necessary and accepting that you know the limitations of your field doesn’t make you less of doctor but somehow also increases your network base, because in the end your colleagues will also do the same to you

    ReplyDelete
  28. 1."Your patient is your billboard". I think these adage fits perfectly well with most medical and surgical specialties in the context of contamination or viral marketing. A happy patient refers friends, relatives even new acquaintances. Simply put, it is a sort of marketing whereby your message passes from person to person without your direct involvement. However, producing a satisfied customer is not that easy in the field of medicine, it has to be equated with technical skills and knowledge and a lot of patience in order to come up with a satisfied patient. Therefore our primary goal is to do what's right, to the best of our ability in order to make them happy, then the rest follows.

2."Build it and they will come". Once you have built your reputation, people will come looking for you. Establish your position, build your base, look for your target market then bombard them with all the social media and guerrilla marketing strategies you can think of. Use promotional tactics. Harness the power of the internet. Link to your patients and customers through basic email marketing, linkedIn, twitter, to the now famous facebook eventually building up a website.

3."Pass it on" It may not be applicable to most medical specialties but giving people the motivation to pass on your message to others is very helpful in contamination marketing. Offering incentives, packages, discounts etc. to customers who have brought in or referred friends or relatives may help a lot in your goal of sending out your message thereby increasing your sales output.

  29. To contaminate the market i have some ways to do it as follows:
Find your niche in the market, look for the weakness of your competitors, be unique in the market. These are some ways how to be know in the market. Like the flu virus they contaminate first one family by looking into the weak resistance individual which are the children. The spread of the illness is by air droplets and crowded places. Children are most commonly affected first. Thats why i became a pediatrician, there's a big market in the field of pediatrics. To be unique you must be always updated, be innovative attend post grad seminars here and abroad. I have identified three contaminants on how to contaminate my market as follows: 1. Find your NICHE 2. Weakness of the competitors 3. Uniqueness among the product .

    ReplyDelete
  30. Ways to contaminate my market:
    1. Do the best in things I do. My mentor and tormentor once told me, “A surgeon is as good as his last operation”. Equipping myself with current surgical and medical knowledge plus personal touch, will result to total patient care. If one does a good job, chances are it will be infectious that no one can stop.
    2. Spread more wings. Don’t wait for opportunities to come…seek them. MBA program is one way of knowing what is out there and delivering me to unheralded opportunities.
    3. Be visible. People should know that I exist, not only in the workplace but also in social functions especially in NGOs’ projects. Participate and be active in all organizations that I am part of. Make use of quad-media ( but within in the realms of ethical standards) especially the internet to reach more to my PTMs.

  31. In the field of healthcare, I think the Top 3 ways to 'contaminate' our primary target market are:
    1. Be professional. Come on time, refrain from loose talk and making unsolicited advice, don't backstab other people especially colleagues, look presentable and appropriate, listen when people are talking (especially when our patients are the ones talking). People will LIKE you.
    2. Be visible. Do more rounds, attend conferences and functions especially those involving people inferior to us in the healthcare business like residents, nurses, students, paramedics, and of course the most important, laymen. They are the ones who refer patients to you, not the more senior doctors or doctors who have higher positions than you. People will ACCEPT you.
    3. Smile. This is the most contagious of all the 'body languages'. Do not be so smart and sophisticated-looking. People will LOVE you.
    4. (Optional)Render your services for FREE once in a while! This will kill your competitors. So who is left?
... and this is Hepatitis ABC(Advised By Caraan) of Contamination Marketing (Patent Pending).
